Access Brazilian origin through a trusted local trading partner

Sourcing from Brazil means dealing with local logistics, port procedures and quality variation you can’t fully assess from abroad. Zafra has managed that gap since 1982, so international buyers get consistent lots, honored contracts and fewer surprises at destination

Our Concept

A local trading partner built on four decades in the Brazilian market

Zafra combines Edgar Rauscher’s decades in international coffee trade with Laura Rauscher’s leadership across new products and markets.

For buyers, that means one point of contact handling classification, freight and port procedures on the ground, instead of managing multiple local counterparts remotely.

What We Do

Consistent classification, every lot

Physical inspection is done against the requirements of the destination country before the lot ships, not after a claim is filed. This is what prevents rejections and discounts on arrival.

Contracts that hold

Four decades in the same market, under the same family's leadership, is the reason Zafra's contracts get referenced by buyers as reliable - not a claim, a pattern buyers can check with existing clients.

Execution handled at origin

Vessel booking, container stuffing, customs documentation and export licenses are managed locally, by a team that has run this process for decades - so buyers don't manage Brazilian bureaucracy from abroad.

The Zafra Difference

Most sourcing problems from Brazil surface at the destination port – a rejected lot, an unexpected discount, a missed certificate. Zafra’s process is built to catch those issues before loading:

Your lot is assessed against real-time international market conditions, so pricing reflects the actual moment of the market, not a stale quote.

Physical inspection is matched against the specific import requirements of your country, before the lot is loaded, removing the risk of rejection or discount on arrival.

Vessel space, container stuffing, and export licenses and certificates are handled locally. You receive a shipment that already clears the requirements on your end.

Meet Our Chairman

Approved through a rigorous coffee grading and cupping selection process in 1975, Edgard Rauscher built his career in the coffee industry before founding his own company in Santos, home to Latin America’s largest port.

According to him, three things kept him in the market this long: deep knowledge of coffee itself, close attention to weather and to domestic and international politics, and treating a commitment as something you keep, not something you say.

That same discipline – classification, negotiation, direct relationships with international buyers – is what buyers are actually relying on when they source through Zafra today.
